Transmission Debate

Recommended Posts

Just checked. 03 SSS AWD M32-4L65E. I dont understand why on a performance truck they put in a 4 spd even though its been proven as a good tranny, why not a 5, why did they have to wait so long before they thought of this. But thats a whole nother topic

Wow I always would've assumed that I had an RPO M30... I'm pumped to find out that it's actually a 4L65 (even if they're nearly identical transmissions!!)

Sorry to thread jack, but does anyone know if the SS ever came with the RPO G80?

All of them in the rear.

ok i didnt read the whole thread BUT.....

the 2003-2005 AWD SS had the 65e

the 2005-2007 RWD SS had the 65e as well

BUT the 2005-2007 VMAX had the 70e

the 04 vho had the 65e with the 10 bolt

the 05-07 vmax had the 14 bolt with the 70e

hope this clears things up

EDIT: thought id add this

all the NBS 07-up SUVS with 4.8/5.3 liter have the M30/60e

all the NBS 07-up trucks with the 4.8/5.3 liter have the M32/65e

all the NBS 07-up with the 6.0 liter has the m70/70e

4L65E comes in all 1500 series with a 6.0L, except Vortec Max trucks. Even the 05, 06, and 07 SSS 2wd's have 65E's, the 70E comes in the Vortec Max trucks and the TBSS. You'll find that all of the SSS trucks are M32/65E.

Edit:

I actually posted this before I read Kelley's post.

I didn't see M32 come up with a 5.3L vin on a truck though???
