packjh
is that meatal plate behind the rotor??? I think i either bent it or installed it backwards. ever since i got my alignment done it rubs on the drivers side... the guys told me he heard something when he drove it down the street to check out the alignment. The damn thing is rubbing and i cant bend it back far enough with the wheel on i thought about jacking it up and bending it back as much as possible and if that dont work can i just break it off???? what is the purpose of that thing anyways??? it only rubs when i turn to the left so as long as i might right turns im happy
KissMySilvSS
I think it is just a dust shield? If so, it really does not serve any purpose. Could also be a stone guard, but they are so thin they really don't serve a purpose.
Fireman31
it is a dust/heat shield
2006SilverSS
I think it's just a dust shield also, but I'm not sure I would completely remove it. I had one get bent on my first car and I just bent it back a little so that it wouldn't rub against the rotor.
misterp
It's a rock/grit shield, and yes it's considered optional; mine rubbed my new Baer rotors, I just pried on it until I got about 1/8" clearance again. Mr. P.
