SSplaytoy
I pulled the trans pan earlier just for curiousity and found a lovely burnt odor and fine gray material coating the bottom of the pan. This is my third one and I can't figure out why it's doing it . The shell and the band are made to size each other but they keep burning. Any ideas? I don't want to drop my trans again because it is a bitch in front of my house working with the SS on jack stands to do the job. What do you think will happen if I just leave it? xlr82sxs
i'm pretty sure it can't be a good thing, so i'd drop the trans and do a refresh.
SSplaytoy
Last time I did and opened it up, there wasn't anything wrong with it except 3-4 clutches being burnt to hell
kelleyperformance
from my experience, the kevlar has a great holding power.... but when it slips, it burns up fast. i use the HD red band from FLT in all my rebuilds, never had a band failure. the one kevlar band i did was in an f-body with alot of power, and it failed pretty fast
