The newer trucks get a better front brake upgrade, but rear downgrade. I guess that the newer trucks still have better breaking then the old due to the front brakes getting most of the load. I have noticed that my cousins 2001 sierra has smaller brakes then mine. the rear brakes weren't downgraded at all.. just in appearance. they went back to drum brakes in the rear because they perform better than the disks did.
