vdrumright
What is an acceptable amount of end play? I have been experiencing a groaning noise for the last month. I took the SS to the dealer yesterday for diagnostics. The said that there is too much end play in the tail shaft. I crawled under it this morning and pushed up on the driveshaft where it enters the back of the transfer case. It moves up and down easily and makes a slight clunking noise. It there a bearing there that needs to be replaced? Will I have to drop the trandfer case to change it? Vince

Tyler's Touch
U joint possibly...there is supposed to be a slight "snap" or clunk when you push up on it from underneath same happened to mine..nothin to worry about.
Krambo
I have the same issue. I made a post a while back (you can search, I am lazy ) and there wasn't much discussion. I am rebuilding my T-case within the month and I will report back. Just to confirm, i can push up on the tailshaft and it moves a good 1/8 - 1/4 inch with a clunk sound. I have a spare T-case that I may try first. Ever see how much it costs to rebuild a complete T-case that comes in an AWD SSS? Not pretty.
