pitting is where the finish is developing small pits from objects hitting them at high speeds....it can also be caused by salt and brakedust sitting on the surface..

Jeremy what your wheels are doing is called lifting...where the finish is starting to raise and peel away from the sub surface of the wheel. They should cover it.

Hope they replace them Danny. I'm guessing they won't.

Here's what the shop wrote me:Pitting is usually due to contact with chemicals (road salts, de-icers, etc.) or moisture being left on the wheels. Keeping wheels clean and dry during the winter is the key. When wheels get dirty with brake dust or road grime, the dirt can actually hold moisture underneath and cause the chrome to pit. Pitting will usually occur where the spoke meets the lip or on a surface of the wheel that can hold dirt or moisture. Polishing the chrome every once in a while helps to repel water and dirt. Pitting will look like tiny little bubbles or specs in the chrome.

I'm going to take it to the shop and see what they say.

This is incorrect...the shop doesn't seem to know what the hell they are talking about...pitting is exactly that a tiny pit. Not a bubble and not a spec. Let me make a few calls for you see if I can make any headway......american eagle effin pisses me off. Those guys need a good lawsuit or something .

Thanks Danny. I'm getting the digital camera from the ex tonight so I'll try to take close up pics. Everything I've read on the web shows pitting to be small holes or pits on the wheel, not raised bumps like what I have.
