pacamaro
I recently was talking to a buddy of mine who teaches at UTI, he claims that GM makes a brake upgrade kit for the SS. Has anyone heard of this?
2006SilverSS
I recently was talking to a buddy of mine who teaches at UTI, he claims that GM makes a brake upgrade kit for the SS. Has anyone heard of this? There is no upgrade from GM that i know of, but they DID upgrade the front brakes for the '05+ RWD trucks when they went back to the disc/drum setup. Other than that it's all aftermarket.
Fireman31
I wonder if he's talking about the Z06 brake retrofit package a few guys are working on?

Blk06Limited
Sweet, are you just doing the fronts? Yeah, but not anytime soon. Plan on doing that over this coming fall / spring during my rebuild. In the mean time I'm going to pick up the R1 Slotted / Drilled rotors and some ceramic pads. pacamaro
Where do I find the Corvette Brake kit? Is it a kit or do I have to piece it together myself?
Blk06Limited
Where do I find the Corvette Brake kit? Is it a kit or do I have to piece it together myself? You have to piece it together, for now at least. There are some threads on it if you search a bit.
chpspecial
Mayby he was talking about the fact that the SSS have twin piston rear brake calipers like the suburbans vs. single piston rear calipers like on the rest of the 1500's

Loeryder
I know on the S-Series trucks it is pretty popular to upgrade to the FBody 12" rotors and twinpot calipers, but I am not sure if that setup is beefy enough for a full size. What about the 3/4 & 1 Ton HDs? Do they have larger thicker front rotors and better calipers on their towing setups? Looking at the measily rotors on the SSS I have got to think one of the Silverados has a beefier brake setup on it. I cant believe they let it go out to market with that small of a front rotor behind those huge wheels.
