JSTAL Posted May 20, 2008 Report Share Posted May 20, 2008 ok fellas this is what i do on the rig when we trip pipe. We drill 3 miles into the earth for natual gas. I guess you can say i keep you warm at night lol. in this video im 90ft from the floor of the rig 125ft off the ground. the platform im standing on is called a diving board. the pipe weighs 21.5 pounds per foot and its 96 foot tall. do the math its heavy. When the driller comes down on the blocks ( the yellow pully) i have to pull that pipe out of the way and rack it in the fingers.
