03JUSTIN Posted September 25, 2008 Report Share Posted September 25, 2008 has anyone had a problem with the wiring harnes used to hook up the fans in a 03 ss.dont know what my problem is but if i my headlights are on at night with my a/c on the voltage drops from 14 to 12 and when i turn the a/c off it goes back to 14volts.i just put a 250 amp alternator in with a optiam battery and still the same problem. ces63ss Posted September 25, 2008 Report Share Posted September 25, 2008 are you running the stock alternator? if you are that is your prblem. the a/c fans are pulling a lot of amps. upgrade your alternator to one from a Cadillac or so. DAVECS2 Posted September 25, 2008 Report Share Posted September 25, 2008 Yea I have a set of 05 fans. I took them off for the time being. I measured the inrush current when they both come on at 100%. It is 68 Amps! That is heck of an inrush current. I am plannin on wiring it up so the fans never come on at the same time. Even running them both at half speed commands a good deal of inrush current.
