smoke03 Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 (edited) Well my 85' Silvy Has eagle alloy wheels and they have started hazing almost. The power ball doesnt work. Theres like a white film all over the wheels and I cant get it off. You cant feel it after you polish the wheel but you can still see it and the finsh is very dull. Is it oxidation of the clear coat? What does it cost to get a wheel refinished? Some people have told me to use a real light rubbing compound on them? Good Idea or bad? EDIT: the wheels are polished aluminum Edited October 1, 2008 by smoke03 (see edit history) Quote
NashSS Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 try some eagleone neverdull. The stuff works great. My favorite polisher for everything except chrome. I use mothers chrome polish for that. Quote
kweber1911 Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 I second the Eagle NeverDull. That stuff is some good stuff. I have never tried it on rims though. Quote
kunas Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 (edited) I've had a few sets of polished wheels. eagle one neverdull is good. the powerball is a major fail. the best thing I have found that is not $100 is WIZARDS it's actually for motorcycles, it works 100x better than nevrdull my process for polishing: wet sand with very fine grit rubbing compound wizards metal polish takes a few days, but looks like chrome when you are done. wizards metal polish Edited October 2, 2008 by kunas (see edit history) Quote
Fireman31 Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Blue Magic Metal Polish works well too. Quote
smoke03 Posted October 2, 2008 Author Report Posted October 2, 2008 well today I tried the mother's aluminum and mag polish combined with black magic wheel polish and Mothers power polish and they cleaned up fairly well. I think Im going to try some of the neverdull stuf. Quote
dubdaddy420 Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 I used to have some old eagle alloys myself and those things suck with the hazing. The best thing I found was going to the local truck wash (blue beacon) and they have some brightner they use on big rigs and my wheels looked new when they got done, they are always cleaning alot of aluminum at truck washes so I would give it a try.
