So I am looking for a place that I can fall off the map/ grid for a few days. ( I dont have alot of cash) ( I have other issues going on that limit my cash)

One year my wife and daughter and myself just took off headed west. We stopped at every cheesy thing we could find. The Corn palace in nebraska, a deer museum in Michigan, some huge store in South Dakota, etc. The more billboards along the highway the more we had to see it. Had a blast and saw a lot of things we've never seen before.

sounds like you got access to hop flights...... go to okinawa, amsterdam, take advantage of the FREE hop flights and go to another country! if not that, you could always go back to your hometown and visit family and friends... theres no place like home.

A couple of suggestions since you are in Chicago area. If you want to drive somewhere, come to michigan. Traverse City is an amazing northern town on the grand traverse bay with casinos, micro breweries, great scenery, and its probably about 6-7 hours tops from Chicago. You could even stop in and say hi to zippy on the way up because hes on the west coast of michigan and you will go right by him. Also, you could stop in muskegon and ludington on the way up. So much to do you couldnt possibly do it all. Right now, the tourist season is off so hotel rooms are not too bad right now. Its not too busy this time of year. If you want to socialize, there are plenty of places to do that, but if you want to get away from people, you can do that as well. The other place is not too far from traverse city. You could drive on up to mackinac (pronounced mackinaw in case you've never heard of it before) island and the mackinac bridge. You could hit both up on a road trip and then head back. Or you could run up to Traverse City and then back down to ludington and take the ferry accross lake michigan to Manitowoc, WI and stop in at Green Bay, then swing down to Milwaukee and then back home. OR if you felt really daring, and this would be a long long trip...leave chicago, drive up to Mackinac bridge, venture into the upper penn of MI and head west to WI and then back down to chicago stopping at places along the way. That would be about 20-24hour round trip of just driving and alot of miles.

If you want to know anything about michigan, I've lived here all my life and can tell you pretty anything about where to go to have a good time and disappear.

I do have to say though that if you have free flights, you might want to consider hopping a flight to somewhere like vegas or florida or something.
