zanis520 Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 from leftlanenews.com: Large trucks and SUVs are often painted as the most polluting vehicles on the road, but the most recently complied list of dirty vehicles shows that green activist should be targeting most of the world’s supercars. Although most of the cars that fill the top ten spots of the list are low volume vehicles that likely spend more time in the garage than on the open road, it’s worth noting just how environmentally unfriendly some of the most beloved supercars are. Not surprisingly, Bugatti’s sixteen-cylinder Veyron took home the title of dirties car on the planet, with 571 grams of CO2 emitted from its tailpipe every km. In fact, that’s 15 percent more than the second highest car on the list, the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 at 495g/km. Ferrari claimed the next two spots on the list with its 599 GTB and 612 Scaglietti — emitting 490 and 475g/km of CO2, respectfully – followed by Bentley’s Arnage/Azure/Brooklands trio, checking in at 465g/km. Dodge’s Viper SRT-10 is the highest ranked American car on the list at 6th place (463g/km) while General Motors’ Hummer H2 takes the honor of most polluting SUV (8th place, 412g/km). The Ferrari F-430, Mercedes G500 and Bentley Continental GT/GTC/Flying Spur round out the top ten with emissions ranging from 420g/km to 396g/km. Of note, extremely low production cars, such as SSC’ Ultimately Aero, weren’t included in the list. And just for a frame of reference, Nissan’s outing 350Z puts out just 280g/km while Chevy’s Corvette emits 316g/km. Quote
