CoolBlueSS
My truck started having a cold start ticking noise, and I found a TSB about the pick up tube o-ring not sealing causing it to suck in a little air. Looks like a bitch to do on an AWD. Anyone done this?
mean05
i have pulled the oil pan....front diff has to drop out of the way which really isnt to bad...will take you a little bit to do this though
slayer77
X2 front diff can be a little bit of a pain to get in and out it needs to tilt forward then down but overall 5-6 hrs with a lift
detjoe
I believe Zippy just did this with the engine in the truck. no fun! good luck
gixxerrider
you can replace the oring on the tube with out droping the pan. You just pull the tube out abd the oring is on the tube. Atleast it was when I did my headers

misterp
Are you sure this is the problem? Or just a best guess? My engine also has a bad lifter tick at idle, I just wrote it off as a crappy OEM lifter, the sound goes away above idle and certainly does not hurt the performance of the truck. Just saying that's a TON of f'n effort for a 1-cent part on a hunch. Call me if you decide to do this and want help, I've replaced my front diff last year and you need a second pair of hands or tranny jack Mr. P. mean05
you dont have to take the front diff all the way out just losen it up and it will drop far enough out of the way to drop the oil pan

All the symptoms point to this, and I've talk to the techs who have done these for that very problem. I'm going to check it out furthur before diving into this. It just looks like a MFer to do on AWD.

Too bad situation wasn't different, it would also be a good time to install better rod bolts and raise the redline Mr. P.
