Soft Tonneau Cover

Recommended Posts

I wanted to see what anyone had to say about soft tonneau covers on a SS. I am looking at getting the ExtangRT cover for my black SS and I like how it has a low profile, it fits on the inside of the bed rails instead of the tops, plus I'll also be putting in a Bedrug too.

So far all I have seen are hard covers and not any soft covers and wanted to know if anyone had any ideas or know of the ExtangRT cover. A picture of this cover can be found at http://www.extang.com/docs/extangrt.html . I am also looking into getting the bed caps at a latter date, that can be found at:

Which I also am curious to know if anyone knows/thinks that the above bed rails will work with the ExtangRT cover. I like how the hard cover looks on the SS, but I need to use my bed from time to time, so for me a soft cover is the way to go.

Any thoughts? :P

Wow cwest94, I am looking at doing the exact same setup!!! (great minds think alike!) I'm not sure yet how it's all going to fit.... trying to find out if the smooth bed rail caps extend over the rail and down inside the bed, or instead sit on top of the rail only (waiting on Street Scene to answer my email). If they do wrap around and go inside the bed, then this whole idea may not work, because the bed might be too narrow between the rails for the tonneau framework(?) If I find out anything I'll let you know... :D

I have a acess roll top cover and i like it. The only problem i had was trying to put a full size storage chest in the bed. The rails for the cover did not allow the lid to open so i went with a smaller chest. Just something to think about

Gee I posted that thing a couple months ago :P

Well I did get the bed cover (as you can see in my sig pic) and found out when I ordered it that the bed caps would not work. The shop I got the cover contacted the manufacture of those bed caps to see if it would work, and they said that some custom cutting can be done with the rails of the bed caps, but it was highly not recommended. I'm happy with the cover, and it looks great as it is now.

Let me know XGMTech what you find out, I still would be interested in what they say.
