chpspecial
i detuned the the truck a couple of weeks ago with my superchips programer and it seems to run better on 87, why?, she seeems to pull alot harder and alot smother when i i need her too, i wonder why?. when i had it on performance i was like aaaa nothing to brag about. anyways thanks guys. vidal I haven't seen a superchips tune, but have seen a hypertech and if they are similar, the superchips is adding timing in the wrong areas for performance which affects drivability, and with the "economy tune" you are probably back to stock which is why it feels better
NashSS
if you read your manual it recommends 91 or higher for the SS but it also says you can safely run 89 with reduced performance but I think anything less then 91 is just plain dumb imo. zippy
At about $5 difference per tank at the pump it isn't worth running 87 octane in a 10:1 compression motor. Tuned properly you should get better milage with the better fuel anyway.
