Gps Question

Looking at buying a GPS for my daughters car. I love her to death but she can get lost driving around the block sometimes. :D

Anyway, my question is do you have to buy a monthly subscription to something to get it to work? I thought they came pre-loaded with maps but my wife says you have to pay monthly to use them like you do with Onstar.

What's a good one? Thanks in advance.

Buy a garmin no monthly subscriptions. I have used many different ones and I like the garmin best.

:withstupid: I've had 2 Garmins. Very good, no subscription (other than annual updates that you can purchase if you want). My Nuvi 350 is awesome!

garmin nuvi 760w owner here, originally bought it for my wife, but i've been a traveling man lately so i use it now...... this thing is one of the best investments i've ever made. updating has been stated by the two previous posts... i took my friend to sams club this past weekend to get him a nuvi 255w (i believe) for 169.99.... he used it for the first time driving back to fort gordon and he loves it.... he to got tired of the iphones weak gps system that lacks detailed features......

Hey Bob ...

I have the Garmin Nuvi 760W ... It is great. Garmin gives you the updated maps when they become avalible. You just download them from your computer.

The Nuvi can also be used as a handheld GPS for GeoCaching ... if your into that.

Also, the Nuvi 760 can hold external memory (SD Card) for photo's, MP3's, etc etc ... It also has Bluetooth for your cellphone.

And finally .... You can download Custom POI's ... (Points of interest) ... I have all the MSP Barracks, Diner Drive-ins Dives locations, WaWa stores and a bunch more ... See my thread about it ... Garmin POI's ... Click Me ...

Just my two cents ..
