ERAMOS08 Posted October 29, 2009 Report Share Posted October 29, 2009 SUP FELLAS! GUYS I HAVE A 06 SINGLE CAB SHORT BED LT SILVERADO THAT CAME WITH A 5.3L. I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT REAR ENDS. ALL I KNOW IS THAT IT HAS DRUMS AND WHEN I NAIL THE GAS ONLY ONE TIRE(RIGHT) BURNS OUT. I HAVE 3 QUESTIONS TO ASK. 1. WHAT ARE THE SPECS ON MY REAREND? GEARING, SIZE, ETC. 2. AND WHAT DO I NEED TO SPIN BOTH TIRES? POSI, LOCKER(WHAT EVER THAT IS) 3 WHAT IS NEEDED TO CONVERT TO DISC BRAKES? IS THEIR A BIG DEAL BTWN THEM? THANKS ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREAT! Chances are you have 3:73 gears out back with a 10 bolt equipped with the bobo drum brake setup. Depending on what your goals are for the truck kinda depends on gearing. IMO it would just be easier to find a rear differential with the gears you want in it and disc brakes already and swap it out. A locking diff would allow you to light up both tires.
