SuperStock
I don't know if I should worry, but my oil pressure will almost hit 80 at WOT in high rpm. I run royal purple 5-
SSplaytoy
What was the temp?
kcsilveradoss
normal
SSplaytoy
normal I've never seen mine hit 80 WOT, maybe 65 or 70 Only reason I could think of is if it is cold enough, the oil can actually thicken causing pressure to rise a bit. streatsboy
Hope your letting your oil reach operating temp before your running WOT..... If not then there's your reason....
SuperStock
Yea I have a 160 stat in it always let it warm up.
SuperStock
It usually runs a 160* and the oil level is fine. Just don't understand why it gets so high. It it a bad thing?
Fireman31
You are fine, stop worrying. I have seen oil pressure as high as 75psi on mine at WOT........

05_gaSShog
Under WOT, mine almost maxes out the gauge....whatever that is, it seems to max out higher with mobil 1 oil filters, if I use a puralator it doesn't get as high. should I be worried that it gets that high??? I figured it just means the engine is that tight...
alex.t
its ok like every chevy truck is notorious for having high oil pressure when you smash on it
