eagledax Posted July 1, 2010 Report Share Posted July 1, 2010 (edited) So I have a little over 85,000 miles on my 03 SSS and I called a transmission place in San Antonio yesterday to get a quote on a basic transmission overhaul and adding a Transgo shift kit, servos, and converter. Is $2200 - $2300 too much for all of this? I am somewhat mechanically inclined but I do not want to monkey with my transmission since it is also my DD. Any input would be appreiciated, I want the work to be done correrctly but I don't want to get taken to the cleaners. I also asked what the price would be to replace the transmission with a 4L80E and they said this could not be done, the 4L80E would not have the proper conectors and would not be compatible with the computer. Again any input would be appreciated. sounds like they dont know a whole lot...there r plenty of members on here that did an 80E swap and for a shift kit i was quoted 200 installed if u buy a TC u r lookin at $5-$700 not sure on the labor price for that........ive been quoted $3000 for a fully built tranny w/ a TC and a year warranty....i think u should tell them to suck it......... thats my opinion Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
chris B Posted July 1, 2010 Report Share Posted July 1, 2010 If your trans. has been working fine you can just install a shift kit ,servo's , upgraded accumulator,cooler . and you can do an 80 swap and you will need your pcm reprogramed and i think you will need an adapter to connect to the transfer case.. chris Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
