Tensioner

Recommended Posts

i am looking for a solution to my belt slip and falling off problem . i have a 408 with a mp122 magnuson , i have an 8 rib setup with the hd tensioner . at idle i can see the tensioner bouncing and i can feel that it must be loose under full throttle because my power steeeing gets loose . will the katech unit fit on this application and do you think it would solve this problem ? any other possible solutions ?

a solid non adjustable tensioner will either break the tensioner or a pulley on the drive or destroy the belt. you need play in the belt to allow for load drops when you lift from a heavy load.

sounds like your belt may be a bit on the loose side. the tensioner will move a bit at idle but something in your tensioner may also be weak as well .

that setup is more than enough to be able to wihtstand a 122.

i had same problem, and after many mods i solved it by welding a 1/4 lip to the alternator & tensioner pulley's due that the area were the belt came out of place, i also have 8 rib setup, and same tensioner, oh on the tensioner i had it weld at bouth edges 1/4 lip. if you would like i can send you some pics.
