468047295
A few weeks back my truck got hot. Appears the head gasket is dripping out the back corner (drivers side) could there be more damage than just a gasket ?????
shawnss
really just depends on how hot it got. aluminum doest like to much heat. which your heads are aluminum. it would be helpful if you know how hot your engine really got? theres a good chance it could be just the heat gasket. but letting it get to hot will damage it more. 468047295
There was some other issues. The converter split open on that side. Not sure how hot....just don't borrow your truck out !!!!! I'm just hoping it's only a gasket.
BlueAKSSS
Well if the engine way overheated there may be some damage done...... It depends how long it was run overheated and how overheated it got. Does it start and run fine other than the leaking coolant out of the head gasket? If so I would just try replacing both head gaskets and possibly the valve guide seals if it smokes on start up. Why did it overheat in the first place? Fireman31
The driver's side cat is split? Sounds to me like you may have a bit more going on then just a head gasket. Just a wild thought, but you may have had a plugged cat that fed all of the back pressure back into your engine, choking it, causing more damage then just a heead gasket......has the CEL been on at all?
