"What kind of pop do you have?... then order by name. The ex calls it soda and sounds like a frickin Canadian (MN accent)... annoying! So, sometimes when I'm out eating I'll ask for a "Coca-Cola" just to pin-point which soft drink I want. Then the waitress will still ask me again "Coke?". It"s become so funny to my wife/friends. Midwest it's coke or pop and in the south it's usually coke. Don't know about the west coast. I usually order a " Pepsi" or a " coke " if they don't have anything else. Well said. My grandfather originally from the midwest called it pop. I grew up (northeast) calling it soda and really did not care what brand we drank. If we wanted a specific brand then we'd name it.
