mcmahan Posted June 12, 2011 Report Share Posted June 12, 2011 (edited) its not that bad, you will get called a Mud Puppy (MP) lol but its actually a good mos, I was in CID for 3 years and had to work with MP's and most of them are squared away soldiers. I also have lots of friends that are reserve CID Special agents and they are detectives and police officers in the civilian world. everybody has there own preception of the transition between military and civilian. TYLERTXSS Posted June 13, 2011 Report Share Posted June 13, 2011 In the guard you will basically be Infantry, expect a couple of deployments to Afghanistan escorting convoys and such. Go active man, Ive been guard and active and IN MY OPINION the National Guard is a worthless organization, they give not a shit about their soldiers. I know people that got 20,000 bonuses and stuff and they are out of the guard after 6 years and STILL havent gotten it. The good ol boy system is rampant in the guard also, you will see situations for instance where your 1SG might be a manager at Walmart and your Plt Sgt is HIS BOSS in the civilian world, so what do you think happens when promotions and schools come up, who do you think is going to get the hook up.
