Automatic Headlights

Foster

Recommended Posts

It's not that it was made in Canada .. it's that it was made for sale in Canada. We have some different regulations such as mandatory daytime running lights (for about . And it may be due to this extra lighting requirement. maybe ? I don't know .. I will try and contact GM canada and see if they can help.

But thanks for all the ideas!

Thee official answer of no solution from GM ...

Mr. Foster:

Thank you for your e-mail.

We have reviewed your inquiry regarding the night-time operation of the

headlamps with our Technical Assistance Centre (TAC). They have confirmed

that the Daytime Running Lights (DRL - lowest beam headlights) operate in

conjunction with the ignition, and cannot be turned off until the ignition

is turned off, in accordance with Canadian motor vehicle safety standards.

The information offered in your owner's manual pertains to those vehicles

that are driven in the United States. The night-time operation of the headlamps is

different for vehicles that are built for sale in the Canadian market.

General Motors of Canada Limited (GMCL) is obligated to design our vehicles

within the mandated government safety regulations. If you have issue with

these regulations, we can only recommend that you contact the Department of

Transporation to register your complaint.

We trust this information offers you some clarification. Once again, we

thank

you for contacting GMCL. Please visit our website again!

Might try this.

Understand I do not condon this if it breaks any laws..

Locate the white wire on the light blue connector of the BCM (body control module)

under the dash..right under stering column..

In the lt blue connector, the white wire is in cavity A12.

Splice inline of the wire a toggle switch ..might mount it on the metal brace that runs along the bottom of the dash..cut the wire far enough out so that it can be connected back together if needed later ...when you need the lights off turn "off" the switch..otherwise leave it "on".

This is only for the headlights..if I read the manuel right the headlamps will be defeated even if turned on manuely if toggle switch is "off"

Have not had the need, No More Drive ins in Canada in my neck of the woods,

Two Minute fix ...

Should be a simple Pop the hood and remove the fuse or relay for headlamps on the driver's side of engine compartment.

They remove the starter relays while they sit on the lots here to prevent theft.

But don't forget to do as Mr. Spocks favourite quote"" Remember""

to put fuse back in cavity before you leave.

For inside lights just push the button in next to headlamps switch and interior lights are disabled.

I think this might work....Happy movies....

Cheers

Dr Mike
