1morechevy
might sound dumb.....but are you in drive? or manually shifting? my ss has never done this. however, i had a 92 chevy truck with a 350 that was doing that, no codes no, engine light. after replacing other parts it ended up being the ignition modual. that's my 2 cents. Krambo
Has your truck ever been tuned? If so has the DFCO parameters been modified in any way? How about plugs, how old are they? You are somehow igniting unburnt fuel in the exhaust pipe, how the fuel gets there is the root cause.
chris B
check your plugs and wires i had a bad spark plug wire on my gp and it did the same thing everytime i got off the gas it would back fire.....
desrtrat
check for a exhaust leak around your manifold and collector pipes. it doesn't have to be a large leak. if none found, do a compression test you may have a exhaust valve going bad. good luck
ThatTallCanadian
I backfire when I let off the gas, after shifting down to third and givin her hell. It's pretty epic sounding Unfortunately I have nothing to share/help, so I thought I'd just add that while looking at fix ideas.

Fireman31
How many miles on the truck?
chpspecial
Are you sure its just not lean pops from DFCO as mentioned before... If its not DFCO, then it could be a sticking injector dumping fuel when the truck enters DFCO.

Cramer
Also check your vacuum lines to make sure they are all connected and none are dry rotted or broken. Could be a gasket leak from the intake manifold or exhaust manifold also.
zippy
See if you can get a video of this occuring, even if it's just on a cell phone. With this condition and no real knowledge on your end it makes this very difficult to figure out.
