canadianVRss
I'm curious if 60/65s from different vehicles can be swapped into our trucks. It would make finding a spair much easier. My plan is to pick up a junkyard trans and rebuild myself, to learn. So would one from saaaay a blazer work?
chpspecial
there are a few internal differences, but overall yes they are the same and interchangeable. some hard parts will need to be used from the v8/truck to keep the strength. canadianVRss
Okay, good to know. I was thinking of picking up a junkyard 4L60E and dropping I'n this and maybe a few other hardened parts and make something a little tougher than the stock 65. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/4L60E-4L65E-REAR-PLANET-5-PINION-OEM-BRAND-NEW-LIMITED-SUPPLY-700r4-md8-m30-gm-/130574492359?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e66d8a2c7#ht_1108wt_689 Even though it's oem, so it won't be any tougher than a stock 65E gear set, servos+shift kit and stall maybe clutch packs (I've never done them) will help. Then keep my stocker for a spare. that way I'll have a little peace of mind when doing performance mods. I know i should just spring for a built trans, but where's the fun I'n that? I like to see how things work, and build them up myself. Edited September 19, 2011 by canadianVRss (see edit history)

canadianVRss
I ended up putting a HD2 shift kit and servos in my stock 4L65E. Finding a spare would still be awesome... Just too much on my plate right now.
