Dealer screwed him and said it was a 5.3 but that another story. Anyways he wants to get more power like everyone. I told him on a 4.8 ur gonna need FI. But he doesn't wanna do that so I said 2nd option is a motor swap If I get him an LQ4 outta a same year truck will it bolt in? Will I need the wiring harness and pcm to? And then just a retune? ls2silvy Posted November 4, 2011 Report Share Posted November 4, 2011 Any 6.0 or 6.2 out of a 07 and newer Gm truck or suv will work, don't need to change harness if it already has a 4.8 in it. 2001silverado364 Posted November 4, 2011 Report Share Posted November 4, 2011 It's how teeth the wheel on the crank that the crank position sensor reads has. For 99-06(trucks) or gen III engines, they have 24 teeth. The newer truck's computer(07+ gen IV engines) needs to see 58 teeth per revolution. Krambo Posted November 4, 2011 Report Share Posted November 4, 2011 Many companies (Lingenfelter etc.) make adaptor harnesses for the reluctor wheel differences.
