A_FUrious
New SS owner here, from the Philadelphia area. I stumbled across my 06 SS Intimidator perusing Craig's list. A dealer sold it to me for around 20k with 63k miles on her. I had a 03 Silvie LS Z71, and every time I saw an SS I wanted it so bad.. No matter what i did to my Z its poor little 4.8 couldn't hold a flame to an SS.. so I traded her in and got a real good price for it. The dealer made me an offer that i couldn't refuse.. Since i brought my SS to her new home I've been ripping her apart and putting he back together.. i cant believe how much LITTLE pride the previous owner had for this great piece of machinery. Ash everywhere, smoke stink on everything, grime on everyplace they put their grimy paws. Sand, stains, it was pretty gruesome.. I'm kind of nervous to delve into the motor/trans hopefully they were wise enough to at the very least change fluids.. never the less she's in good hands, and like most of the the people on here they love their truck and would take it to the grave.. everything is OEM, so i hope my wife stays with me after i start some of the projects forthcoming.. Pictures are on their way. I'm just replacing the trans cooler ATM and I'll post pics after.. I just want to thank all of the owners and moderators of this site! I've been reading and researching and THIS site has been the most help when trying to come to a decision . Thank you! I'm looking forward to helping anyway i can, and sharing my pride with all of you! Thanks again!
Guest Jason*
Welcome to the site bud! . I'm really glad to hear that a poorly owned SSS has found its way to a very appreciative owner, it's a great story. As you probably have seen this site is the best. I am looking forward to the pics. Got any idea for the mods yet?
A_FUrious
I don't think I'm fiscally prepared to do what 04 chase has done. It's nice to see what he's done and how far he's come. As for now I'm open to suggestions. I dont have deep pockets but I can save up. I am an AC technician for Liebert. So I can fix and repair most things on my truck. I'll leave items that require 1/100" clearance to the professionals. I read in the how to section that tuning my PCM is the singlemost beneficial item to address. So that is what is getting done next. I'm currently putting in a high performance trans cooler in. Already moded my tunes, and antenna delete. As well as headlights and tail lights. I put a Lund trifold tonneau cover on. Changed the bowtie to black. That's it really. As for now... Haha Again I am open to suggestions. This isn't a daily driver. Strictly weekends. I have a work van and my wife has a higher efficient car. So most of our transportation is done that way. What I really need is a garage.. But local code desists my request. Maybe a tent or a wigwam.. Lol.. anyway any insite is greatly appreciated!
diggerdan11
Welcome to the site Glad to hear you have such a respect for the SS And yes a custom tune is the best mod you can do. Try Zippy, Wheatley or Black Bear, they are all members of this site and will hook you up good. And they offer liftime re-tunes when you add aditional mods

03BlkSS86
Welcome! Like the guys said, its good to hear about someone having such respect for a vehicle that wasn't previously. You'll love every minute of it trust me. Intake and exhaust are a few starting mods you can easily get to. But good luck with it and get some pictures up when you can! A_FUrious
One of many reasons why this site is so awesomesauce!!! After I purchase and receive the new mods I'll be sure to post new pics.. The weather has been crappy as of late, and I haven't really had a chance to spiff her up n take some pics. Just wanted to say thanks again for the plethora of knowledge base on this site. I've been perusing around and gathering as much information as I can. and Ive decided to do just that Intake and exhaust are a few starting mods you can easily get to. From what I've read, AHR LT w/ Hiflo Cats to Corsa touring.. Then Banks to a Nick Williams 102mm TB to Fast LSXrt.. Tune..Obviously that may not be a correct order of upgrades, but the gist. Well, after that will take time, and lots more reading. Even getting that far will take a bit.. * its not my intention to turn this thread into a bout, I just felt that these may be the best choices for the future of my SSSI.. I appreciate all of the hard work you guys put toward the site. From people in the trade working out equations, to enthusiasts alike. I thank you all again, and keep up the great work!!
