Willoverkill
Just wondering how many of you upgrade to the double roller when you do a cam install and springs? We just got the engine back together yesterday, took it for a cruise just touching the throttle down a hill and the timing chain snapped and sheared 1/4 of the teeth off the cam gear in the process. Could it be just a bad chain or should we order in the double roller? Opinions please.
2001silverado364
What cam/springs? Generally the replacement ls1 timing chain(ls2) is big enough for most moderate cams. silverado777
I used the stock set up. Been good for about 80k+ miles
Willoverkill
I dont have the cam or spring specs on hand right now, but their not crazy or anything. Youd suggest an LS2 stock chain?
2001silverado364
The ls1, lq9, lm7, etc. replacement is an ls2 chain and has been for a while. Just a pic of the stock timing chain compared to the ls2 for the hell of it. Willoverkill
That definitely looks like the better way to go.
BlueAKSSS
I'm running the LS2 timing chain in my L92/LQ9 6.0 and no problems as of yet.
