Uncleruckus26
What's up guys. Newbie here with another front differential that bites the dust. About six months ago I had the front diff rebuilt. After a few weeks I noticed gear oil leaking and the shop said it was normal and just replaced the seal. The truck ran great til just a few weeks ago when the diff starting making the infamous howl again, I replaced fluid and didn't notice any metal shavings on the drain plug. Now the front end has an extreme grind and clanking noise when in motion and It's to the point it's just not even drivable now. The shop gave me a 3 month warranty on the rebuild but conveniantly has expired and I don't have 1800 bucks to rebuild it again. I am at the point right now where I just want to sell it. But I havent tried a remanned diff yet and was just wondering if you guys think a remanned diff or trying to find a used one would be worth it. I know these diff go out but when I spend $1500 bucks to get it rebuilt it last a little longer than 6 months. The cheapest remanned diff I found was $1400 dollars, does that sound about right? Thanks in avdance for any help or suggestions.
chpspecial
6 months is excessive. I would look into your front suspension to see why its eating the diff apart. Also how was it rebuilt and what was the failure. It might not have been set up properly to begin with. sent from my thunderbolt

1FASTBRICK
That's pretty poor. Only a 3 month warranty??? Did the shop install the front Diff at that price??? Because at that price, It sounds like they installed a used part to me. Jasper stands behind there stuff but they can be pricey.

Yes i work at a gm Dealership and i know i got a sweet deal but the parts are not that expensive. I have found used ones for like 500-600 bucks.
