jm3907
Found this wire just hanging by the bumper bracket on the passenger side, anyone have an idea to what it is?
2001silverado364
Is that just a cap on the wire or does it actually have pins in it as well? Edited January 4, 2012 by Mr. 3/4 ton SS (see edit history)
NTMD8R_SS
Kinda looks like the temp sensor, look at your trans cooler bracket it should be right under your trans cooler, it will have a hole to attach it back on,
gmJake
I think that's the fluid level sensor for the headlight fluid resevoir. Have you noticed if your headlightes are dimmer?

No man, it's definitely the muffler bearing regulator.

keystone08
I actually just found the same thing on mine this past weekend, on the passenger side, just to the right of the frame horn, you will see a metal tab hanging down- it snaps in from the front side( locking tabs to the rear) I have no idea what it is, I figured maybe AirBag sensor... jm3907
Well guys I tried to hook the wire back up to the trans cooler bracket but its impossible I did see that there was one already there. The wire will not reach no matter what. Any other ideas?
WantaSSS
Then its your ambient temp sensor that displays on your mirror . I think there isnt a place for it to mount from my memory of seeing mine. it is supposed to dangle so your not reading other things that would effect the temperature reading
