guppyman
Couple of years ago I got caught in a hail storm while on a trip and had to have most of the truck repainted. Took a local shop over 7 weeks to do the repair! They never did complete it to my satisfaction and I finally gave up on them. Unfortunately, the cladding has never looked right since. Panels look misaligned and some are no longer tight to the body. After reading through the "Apperance" forum, I've seen some posts on removing and re-attaching a single piece. I've also seen it's possible that if cladding can warp as well. Not really interested in a DIY fix. Any suggestions? I live in Marion, IA - any eastern IA SSS owners out there with recommendations for a quality body shop?
Downeast Johnny
Can you post a couple pictures? I had a problem with my pass. side front door cladding coming loose, (double sided tape started giving up), and the front top corner would catch on the front fender when you opened the door. Over time that distorted the shape of the cladding. When I went about putting it back on I carefully heated it with a heat gun and massaged it back into shape, reattached with Scotch trim tape, (double sided), and it was good to go. Pretty easy repair. Worst part was cleaning the old tape mastic off the panel.
