1BAD2K
I looked at swapping my 06 ss to awd which is basically the same thing you're wanting to do except not the obvious selectable 4x4 transfer case. You next to get a front axle and frame mounts, front driveshaft, 4x4 trans or have yours converted with the output shaft from one and a transfer case. I don't know if you could run any type of autotrac case since the electronics and all, but the lever style case that manually locks into or out of 4x4 hi/low. That would involve cutting the floor and possibly losing the console for the jump seat style. Personally I would find a junk or rollover truck and get everything at once from it. That way hardware and stuff will all be there.
1BAD2K
If I wanted a lifted truck, and had the choice between a lifted ss and a lifted non ss I would want the ss lol, just bc you're starting with an already badass truck!! That said, I do prefer lowered
Silverad0 SS
Alright so I've done some searching and I can't find all of the information I'm looking for. I have an intimidator ss which I'm sure most know is an 06 and 2 wheel drive. After having it for a few years I love the truck but I'm more of a 4x4 fan but I love the power and style of the sss. So when a buddy of mine did a sas on his z71 it got me thinking. How difficult would it be to swap in the differential, swap the back of the 4l80e to 4x4 and run some type of auto transfer case. This way I could still have the fun of smoking the tires but will still be able to hook. (Just to note I'm not after speed and 1/4 times.. more for the fun of the truck.) After the swap id like to slightly lift it. So who can help me? What all is needed? How hard/$ is the swap. I'm looking for information and I know there are many opposed to my idea. If i wanted a pure speed truck id have got an rest. I know you guys know these trucks. Help is greatly appreciated especially reading this long ass post. Thanks BOY! WHAT'S A MATTER WITH YOU! ThatTallCanadian
LOL guy comes onto a silverado ss enthusiast site (street trucks) and asks to lift a rare 1 in 1000 intimidator SS, then gets mad when people call him out. People just don't get much dumber these days.

rickyrick562
in the long run ur gonna end up spending more than what it wouldve cost u to trade but hey i understand u probably love ur ss too and wish to keep it. its like everyone else said though those intimidators are rare so most like to leave them as stock looking as possible. good luck with which ever route u choose(preferably trade LOL)

If that is your style have fun with it !!! I don't have to agree or like what you do it's your Truck !!! But I would think the best way to get everything you will need is find a donor 06 Tahoe 4wd that has been totaled but has good parts you need and do a transplant of said parts, But keep all the 2wd parts for if you ever want to go back !!! chpspecial
IF the original poster is still here, I have one question: do you want to do it the right way, or hack it together??? Both are doable and it doesn't take much. I have a friend who converted his 2500 non-hd from 2wd to 4wd, and I know what it takes. Its not cheap, but it is bolt on and time consuming. At least to do it the proper way. For the rest of you, keep it clean and civil. To each their own.
