AdamVRed03
Ok guys need some help i just replaced both front wheel bearings with Moog full unit brearings and abs sensors in them. I have a slow grinding sound that comes from the front axle area more on the driver side i guess cause thats the only side i sit on. I can drive 25 mph on a smooth road and it wont do it under coasting conditions but i barely touch the throttle and to keep a constant slow speed no speed diffrence it grinds low sounding and seems like its round and round like repetitive. same at like 30 mph and 45mph and its not when coasting or high acceleration i guess i cant really hear it under high acc cause i hear motor and exhaust... i need help drive train guys. its an 03 no other mods 85k. Blown 346
Could be the new bearing if you didnt have the sound before. Its rare but sometimes you get a faulty part.
AdamVRed03
Was doing it before and after. It does not do it on turns at all doesnt change with speed either still the same constant sound,
Blown 346
Your brakes are good?? Otherwise it could be something with the front diff, axle or front driveshaft... There is really nothing else up front that rotates with the tires.
AdamVRed03
Yes the brakes are good. its a low howl grind. i dont think its CV axles i thought those clun/click mostly when they get bag no clunking or chunkin or clicks
Blown 346
I have seen one or two make a rubbing sound. If the CV shaft doesnt have slop in it than your good there. Im still partial to the wheel bearing as they will either howl, grind or squeal.
JC03SS
It's prob the front diff. Mine has done it for about 60k miles. It's just there and I learned to live with it. It's not real bad but at same speed up to like 40 sometimes. I'm sure that's what it is.

That was until I was on my way home going 30 35 mph and I blew up the fronted!! $1500 later a week with out the truck and not to mention the smell of burnt gear oil in the cab of the truck that stayed in the truck for a month! I would recommend getting it looked at!!!
Fireman31
Have you checked the U-joints for signs of cracks or wear? Sounds like a possibility to me......
AdamVRed03
No I have not. Just take off the wheel and visually look for cracks on the rubber on the front axle shaft?
Fireman31
No, the U-joints, they are part of your driveshaft, they connect between the driveshaft and the differential...
AdamVRed03
I will have to check those. thanks!
