Transfer case grinding

Recommended Posts

Its happened about five times now, usually within the first 30 miles of starting my day. My son almost dropped in the back seat this morning after this loud grinding noise from under the passanager seat. Brought it in last week to the dealer. They said tranfer case maybe replace the front tires, because i was running the front tires a little low on tread and i just replaced the rears. So i replaced them with brand new one on the 1-19-13 and this happens again.

Is it time to replace the whole unit?

It's either the transfer case or hubs. Either was I wouldn't go far and get it fixed ASAP. I blew mine up with no warning. Had to get it tow to a shop and let me tell you burnt gear oil smells for weeks and I mean weeks!!!

Good luck and let us know how you make out!!
