synyster_SS
Autozone is out to lunch. Lol. I'm a 2nd year apprentice tech at a GM dealership.. I have pulled quite a few transmissions on GMT800 trucks, and they have all had a metal ring on the driver side and a donut gasket on the passenger side. I wish I had access to the pictures that the parts guys at work have.. in GM service information (which I have access to), it shows a ring on the d/s and a donut on the p/s. I can post pics of that up for ya if you want!
canadianVRss
Oxy/ace to heat and expand the nut. Works well, get it HOT. Remember, those exhaust components go through a lot of heat cycles and set very well, so get the nut hotter than it normally would.
chawkins6789
I just have a mini butane torch at my disposal. So where else do I look for the gaskets? and is a gasket needed between the right cat pipe and the cat-back?
Blown 346
A torch will work but will take awhile to get the nut hot. if you can go to walmart etc and get yourself a MAP gas torch. Any parts store should have the gaskets. Some sort of gasket is needed for the catback. Either a Lead paper gasket or high temp RTV will also work if you cant find the gasket. chawkins6789
This is the torch I have http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bernzomatic-Corp-ST2200T-Micro-Torch-Kit-2-Piece-Butane-2-Pieces-Carded/23024337?ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=23024337&sourceid=1500000000000003260430&adid=22222222227000000000&wl0={matchtype}&wl1={network}&wl2={ifmobile:m}&wl3=21486607510&wl4={aceid}&wl5=pla&veh=sem And the parts stores are showing 2 metal rings for manifold to pipe gaskets
Blown 346
That torch might take awhile to get those nuts and studs hot..... This is a map gas torch it would only take about a minute or so for those to get hot using this.
chawkins6789
Oh ok. Where do I find the nuts as well?
Blown 346
The nuts can be found at any Lowes Home depot etc. Just bring one of the old ones with you to find out what thread and pitch nut you will need and match it up.
chawkins6789
I know the studs are M10x1.50. I plan on using an impact as plan b if I run into a stuck one
Blown 346
Your removing the studs too?
chawkins6789
Thought about it. If they come out with the nuts I will. When I have the money the manifolds will be gone and I will have Bassani headers
D1SCSS
The best thing I found for rusted bolts is Tri-flow! It works great. Spray every but then let it sit about 20 min. then respray. It has only let me down once in the last 9 years as a GM service tech! PB Blaster WILL corrode and eat wires and everything else that is not metal over time! Tri-flow is safe on wiring also...... Also make sure to use a 6 point socket so the nut does not round off. Goodluck
chawkins6789
OK. So I'm hoping after a couple days of spraying I can do this. I still can not find a "Donut" gasket for the right side manifold on the parts store websites. Anyone have a pic of it?
