hanly2
I have some belltech springs that I want to install, and I have most of the truck apart, but the problem is I can't get the lower ball joint to pop loose. I loosened the nut and tried hammering, then prying, but nothing. I am trying to do it without a spring compressor, I don't trust that they won't slip to begin with. Can I get a little help? Right now I have the sway bar, tie rod bolts off, the uca is still attached. Thanks.
kissfans03ss
Take a hammer and bang the lower spindle where the ball joint stud comes through the vibration/ metal movement usually seperates it.Its an old trick. hanly2
yeah beating it didn't work I ended up getting a spring compressor and unbolting the lca at the frame, sure was a bitch getting that compressor back out of the spring though. Now on to the other side, not even messing with the ball joint this time.
Thatdavidkid
If you take the wheel bearing off, you have a huge flat spot to hit on the lower spindle. A 4 lb short handles sledge is what I used. I did it this morning.
