zayne0
My buddy has an 05 ss with a procharger. He has pulled the procharger off the truck for performance issues. He has had the system since brand new. He has had the the hu gone through twice by procharger. Long story short I'm trying to buy the kit off him for little of nothing. He says one day the truck would run super strong and the next day it'll just fall on it face. I think its a tuner problem or installer error. He doesn't remember if they did an sd or maf cl tune so that doesn't help any. Anyone else have problems similar to these with a procharger? Thanks all. Blown 346
It sounds like tuning, The install is pretty much straight forward and that wont cause performance issues.
zayne0
I think its tuning issue to, he's the type to just get rid of something and try something else. I was thinking he was having a boost leak maybe...
Blown 346
If it was a boost leak issue the truck wont fall on its face one day and not the other. Whatever he tries next will only do the same thing. You cant just throw on a power adder and not tune it.
zayne0
He has had it tuned by three different places and they all tell him that the procharger is the problem.
2bfast
If its a SD tune it would make sense as there isnt a MAF to compsenate for ambiant air temp, and outside climate changes day to day.
shadowsniper3006
SD tune still uses the IAT sensor in the MAF(if the maf has been removed an aftermarket IAT needs to be installed in the iar intake) and has tables to adjust for air temp(maybe reynaldo can confirm). My truck has no problem running at 90 degrees or 40 degrees with an SD tune and open loop only.
zayne0
I think I'm just gonna buy it from and see how it goes, guess if it is the HU I'll just find a d1 to put in its place
Blown 346
I dont think the head unit is the issue. It has one purpose and its to creat air, compress it and force it into the motor, If the impeller is spinning and creating air, its not the HU. I have 2 procharged cars, and I have never had a issue like this unless it was a tuning issue. How are they tuning it?? what software are they using, is it a mail order tune? idahoBLKss
maybe a bad or sticky bov or bypass valve?!
zayne0
I will talk to him tomorrow if he's back and quiz him. But its looking like I'm going to get, its not like it can't be fixed.
Blown 346
Normally when the BOV fail they fail open so you dont damage the motor or blower.

2bfast
this is why I hate diagnosing problems over the internet. 9.5 times out of 10 you never get the full story good luck w/ your issue Edited July 25, 2013 by 2BFAST (see edit history)
