Anyone know what replacement bulbs are used in 2004 SSS Instrument Clu

I apologize if my search capability is lacking, but does anyone know what light bulbs the 2004 Silverado SS Speedo/Tach/Gauge Instrument Cluster uses? Even though my Inst Cluster was replaced under warranty once, over one half of my bulbs have now burned out at 150,000 miles now. In case they are not the common 194 bulbs, I need to know so I can order, BEFORE I disassemble and remove the Cluster. I plan to swap out the short-life (& hot burning) incandescent bulbs with some LED equivalent (maybe blue color), if I can ID the bulbs first.

My local Chevy Dealer does not know and says they are not replaceable, which sounds ridiculous. Local autoparts dealers don't know either.

Thanks for your patience.

Rick

You can send your cluster to a member here on the sure and he can replace and fix all your lights with what Evers color you want. Here is a link to his page. I've never done business with him however many members have and I've only heard good things.

Solder must be perfect yemp to get them to stick. Good Luck

So these are the bulbs originally used by the factory, or are you stating that these are the generally used replacement fix? Based on your solder comment, the SSS Instrument Cluster Bulbs do not twist-screw in like the older Chevy instrument cluster bulbs?

Thanks,

Rick

Thanks, he sounds like a quality worker. However, I have to admit though, as relatively good operating SSS instrument clusters are rare, that I hate to mail my cluster off 12 states away, if I could fix the lighting myself.

Nothing wrong with that, I'm just not the guy to solder small pieces like our cluster bulbs. But if you feel capable I say do it up. And when you're done post pics. Got to love a good looking cluster.
