thats a race id pay to see :pop: brandon you didnt like chicago at all?

Well, I stayed with my sister for about a week. She lives about 20mins from Chicago. It wasn't too bad. Pretty muggy and humid. Getting into a black car with leather seats sucked!! Haha. It took some getting used to. But the area was pretty nice. Her apartment has a pool which was kinda neat. Lots of construction and traffic. The city was quite an experience too. We drove into Chicago, parked the car, and walked for a bit. Saw lots of interesting characters. And LOTS of homeless. But it was neat to see all the exotics cruising through the streets and all the crazy rich people at the sidewalk fancy restaurants. Lol. It's crazy how expensive everything is. With the sky pass toll that charged you to enter and exit the city, plus parking was like $50 for a few hours... But I got to see a lot of the city and go into a lot of the stores we don't have. Went into the Porsche and McLaren dealers. Haha. I stuck out like a sore thumb because I was wearing a tank top and not a suit like everyone else. It's fun to visit, but not sure if I could live there or not. I love to drive, and it just seems so congested. I'd spend more time idling in traffic than driving, but I guess that's everywhere nowadays.

Played hookie today from work cuz its my birthday. Nothing better than getting to work on the truck all day. Would have gotten more done if the garage didn't flood though.. Had to spend some time chipping ice to redirect the flow of water so it wasn't creeping under the garage door. Anyway, was able to gut all the fuel lines and evap shit.

Empty frame rail... Gonna have to do some rust repair once I get it on the lift... Its a little worse than I thought.

Found a chunk of the stock block I blew up a few years ago tucked inside the frame rail

Picked up some aluminum jaws for the vise and started building my fuel lines..

Top of the bucket... The yellow cap was just to keep dirt out. Itll become my vent port for the tank, as its already a check valve. It should be perfect.

The red wire is the power wire for the second pump. Ill be making my own relay harness to power the second pump to save $200. And that open valve to the right plugs into the filler neck for venting the tank when filling up at the pump. Very important to make sure you vent the tank properly. You'll hate yourself when the pump keeps kicking off before the tanks is full.

Found a evap clip that will work great. Just gotta run a line up to vent by the filler neck. Gonna get a little in-line fuel filter to help with the smell of fuel when its parked.

Hung the new tank

Started routing the fuel lines

Using zipties to hold them for now. Going to get some nice hose brackets for a more permanent solution. Just getting the lines built,

Installed the new filler neck

Threw on the flexplate while I was under the truck

And not much after I was done torqueing the last bolt, UPS showed up with my converter... Except... IT WAS THE WRONG ONE!!!

I specified I needed a 6 bolt 4L80 converter, and told them it was an 03 SS with an 80 swap. Im sure im not the first person that's ever gotten a converter for this application.. Haha infact, Justin went down the same road when he ordered his. His was also wrong the first time. This must be for an LS1 or something. It wont pilot in the back of the crank. The flexplate just suspends it away from the block.. Sorry. Haha. I was a little irritated to find it was wrong. I was looking forward to installing the trans this next weekend.. oh well. Precision has always been great. Top notch product with great customer service. Im sure they get it straightened out.

Since I wasn't doing a trans install, I put my attention towards the engine compartment. Finished buttoning up the accessory drive. New alternator installed, with my custom steering gear bolt. Its got more clearance than it appears. Bad pic.

Also put on the HD tensioner brace. Just a dinky little bracket Joe supplied with his hybrid drive kit.

Installed my polished fuel rails, 1000cc injectors, and polished throttle body  Its finally starting to look like an engine.

Gonna stay busy and finish up my fuel system. Gotta find a nice spot for the fuel pressure regulator and build the lines for under the hood.. Also gotta find a spot for the Y block... Might bolt it to the back of the drivers side head.. Idk. We'll see. Ill be back with more updates...

What and where did you get those rails at?

They are actually from Magnuson. The factory rails come with the ugly regulator on the side, which I didn't need. So I bought a bare passenger side rail for the drivers side to match the bare passenger side rail. The passenger side rail for this model has to be clearanced for the rear cogs. I can take a pic tonight. They were a plain rushed aluminum, but polished up nicely.

Great progress Brandon, everything's looking top notch I must say!

That's funny about PI sending the 3 bolt instead of the 6 - They did the EXACT same thing to me too  really pissed me off at the time

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Jack has been giving me the runaround this morning. Hes like "well I cant correct this without building an entirely new converter"... Im like, well, do what you gotta do cuz this POS isn't going to work. Lol. I told them they should have this down by now. Im not the first, nor will I be the last to order a converter for this application. I told them maybe they should make a note in their system for this application. Im the 4th person this has happened to, and that's just the people I know!!

If he gives me attitude, ill call and talk to the manager. I cant afford to buy another converter to fix their mistake. Hell, Justin ordered his and got this same converter the first time. And Vicky sent him the correct one 2nd day air, no questions asked... Why do I have to get stuck with the ****!

Not kidding, check it out http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/85604-the-storm/page-11 Jack's the one who handled mine too, lol. I was so pissed because HE took my order and I even gave him the GM part number for my 6 bolt flywheel and he still sent me the 3 bolt! Oh yeah, Jack IS the Manager too  , lol I wanted to talk to the Mgr. too because it was such a blatant f-up I thought he may have even gotten my stall incorrect. Remember, I was swapping out my Circle-D because Chris had over shot my stall by like 1k, so I was already paranoid

Return that garbage and just get one from FTI and be done with it. Guy over there told me his single disc would hold 1200 hrsp as long as I wasnt pulling 5k + lbs I would be fine. Oh and lifetime warranty for $200. he told me to go ahead and try to break it. If I could, he would fix it and rebuild it for free. He was that confident.

Lol. Yeah. Im sure there are other good alternatives.. But this ones paid for. Check out their site. Quite impressive the differences between their converters and other brands... Of course, im sure the welds on your FTI were cleaner than this one. Haha. Ill see what this new one looks like...
