Stoshball
Hey guys, when I shift from 1st to 2nd my rpm's hit about 3500. Once it shifts into 2nd everything else runs fine up shifts into other gears like normal and down shifts with no issues. If Im in first and let my foot off the gas between 2500-3000 rpm the trans will up shift to 2nd and I can give it gas again. Any ideas on what's sticking or broke? I was thinking the 1-2 accumulator spring but would like some other opinions. Thanks
Blown 346
Could be several things. the trans could have a bad solenoid as well. Have you checked your fluid level and color? When was the last time the trans was serviced?
JC03SS
Have you done anything trans related recently?
Stoshball
Last maintenance was 30,000 ago flush new fluid and filter. No recent mods and no warning signs something was going wrong slowly either. Was out running it Monday night stopped at an intersection and it just started happening. Hit it hard a 3-4 times from a roll before it happened.
Blown 346
Sounds like it could be a shift solenoid issue. Not on common. Edited April 10, 2014 by Blown 346 (see edit history)
Aldofashow
Are you sure its 2nd gear when letting off the gas and getting back into it or could it be third gear its shifting into cause my trans lost 2nd gear and sounded like what you were describing
JC03SS
Sounds like it could be a shift solenoid issue. Not on common. Thinking this too. Is it throwing a code? My 2nd gear shift sel sticks open every now and then.
Stoshball
So I decided to have a reputable local shop do an overhaul on the trans all the valve body upgrades and some other internals to beef up what I can while i can since it needs work now anyways. I'm wondering if they could change things like line pressure for these upgrades or should I still plan on sending my PCM to zippy for a retune after the works done. Blown 346
A trans shop wont tune the trans. They will install whatever you want them to, Its best to let a tuner do the rest for what you want to use the truck for. Stoshball
Yeah I talked to the trans shop and found that out, thanks for the info.
zippy
Are you doing a converter at the same time?
Stoshball
Not at the moment, staying with the stock convertor for now.
zippy
You should do the VJCX converter while you have it out. It would be a great upgrade for a very small price difference.
Stoshball
Already have the trans back In the truck. Just put a new stock convertor in. It runs really good and is still some what fuel efficient and street able which is what I wanted just didn't know if I should send my PCM to you for any retuning. Blown 346
In my opinion, it would be pointless to have the trans tuned if you plan on using a converter anytime soon.
