Xtremeta38
Okay guys I'm debating on buying a 14 inch caliper relocation kit from SSBC or doing the 13 inch upgrade to NNBS Tahoe parts. I have a 2003 AWD SS with dual piston rear. The front currently is 12 inch and the rear is 12.8 inch. What way to go?
Xtremeta38
Any thoughts or comments?
porksoda
I went with the Tahoe upgrade brakes in my 03 SS. Decided if I was going to upgrade it should be calipers and everything, not just bigger rotors on stock calipers. I believe when I was researching this also that people said the stock pad and caliper doesn't even contact the entire rotor because all the kit does is move the stock caliper further out so the inner rotor by the hat doesn't get touched. Xtremeta38
Thanks for the reply. I also read somewhere along the same lines. I thought about doing Tahoe calipers with upgraded rotors. I wonder if they'll support 14 inch rotors...
12'SROCK
Do the 06' SS front calipers and Baer 15" rotors along with stainless steel brake lines
Xtremeta38
Thanks for the reply. I'm assuming your referring to a kit for larger rotors.
Downeast Johnny
Thanks for the reply. I'm assuming your referring to a kit for larger rotors. Check out this link. (Rotors are available by themselves). I could only found 14" rotors, but look around the site. They must be there if W-06 found them. https://baer.com/EradiSpeed-Rotors-GMT800-Pickup/
Xtremeta38
Thanks for the reply, John. SSBC has a 14 inch kit for all 4 corners for like $700 vs Baer $545 per axle. My fear is exactly what porksoda pointed out, the stock calipers won't have any more contact on the rotor just in a different location. No point in shelling out cash if the larger rotor is being wasted. I've seen a lot of people doing the NNBS upgrade, or as widow informed of doing the newer SS calipers. I know I want a bigger rotor to feel the space behind the wheel but I don't want to throw away money on something not worth it. I haven't really seen any true reviews on the relocation kits. Not to mention I'm a terrible decision maker. Lol.
Downeast Johnny
Have you asked for information from other truck sites? You might find someone who has direct experience with the kits. Pictures would be a help, huh?
Xtremeta38
I have asked around performance truck but didn't really get any help on the technical side. I have researched different sites selling the kits. of course there are the reviews that say the kits are perfect and the ones claiming they are trash. Wish I had the dough for a 6 piston setup or maybe the Z06 swap. But I'm working around a budget. I got to repair my house roof and back deck this spring/summer. Being a home owner has its drawbacks. EXGM
I like the look of the bear 15 inch rotor kit. Has anyone here done this mod? I've got a 06 and the brakes seem like they need help. I've had a few panic stops that are less than confidence inspiring and I have the bigger factory rotor and caliper. It seems a bit pricey but if it works it would be worth it. 12'SROCK
I just did this last week. Definitely has more stoping power.

EXGM
I just did this last week. Definitely has more stoping power. So that is the Baer kit with stock 06 caliper? Also what kind of pad did you go with? Edited May 14, 2015 by EXGM (see edit history)
12'SROCK
So that is the Baer kit with stock 06 caliper? Also what kind of pad did you go with? Yes sir. I used performance friction carbon metalic pads. Keep in mind that I have stainless steel brake lines as well
