SSS
Will driving with the Trailer Towing Mode engaged similate a more firm transmission, such as one might expect from a shift kit? Or is is not so noticeable unless you have a load on the tranny?
rmcswain
I have had 3 Silverados with the towing mode and can tell a big difference in pulling and power going up a mountain in the tow mode with an empty box
ChevelleBoy
With Tow/Haul on, the shift point will change. You will turn more RPMs before each shift, which in theory will give you a little more "out of the hole" so to speak. It only works up to 50MPH however. rmcswain
YEP, 50 MPH is about it
SSilverado60
At part throttle all of this is true, dont think it will make you faster in a race, when you are at WOT, the shifts are the same as with it off, and the truck actually shifts sooner than normal, you will be slower
FalconPilot
check out my post in this thred http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/index.ph...t=ST&f=16&t=518 It is the 1/4 mile thred in the strip forum When I did some testing, there was no difference in tow vs normal mode at WOT
marc_w
I haven't messed with tow/haul much in the SS. In my last truck, it was actually slower in a 'street situation'. At light throttle, the truck would shift at a higher RPM than normal. But when you put your foot into it, it actually shifts EARLIER than if it wasn't in tow/haul. It held 3rd / no-lockup until 60mph. Right at 60, I'd kick up into 4th lockup. I only use it when I'm doing a lot of around town driving, or stop and go stuff, when I'm towing.
