I had a 2001 GMC HD with Denali Lamps on it for 3 years, not too bad, but not as bright as factory HD lighting. I don't no where the whole clearing thing came into play but I never misunderstood, so I don't think you are at fault. You may also want to check on the silverstars. Some people really like them and others don't. I don't know much else though. There are threads on this stuff, you may also want to check in the appearance section.
