  1. 03mass, I am so glad that someone was able to take advantage of this opportunity. Keep us posted! prestinb (Brandon)
  2. Thanks everyone for the various forms of input and suggestions. I have a few ideas and perhaps complete exhaust systems. When I find a solution, I will post back. prestinb (Brandon)
  3. I guess at this point I will just tolerate it until I can come up with a definitive solution...either the #14289 Touring muffler or and entirely different exhaust system. I have been looking at the Billy Boat but have heard they have drone are very loud too...don't know what to think any more. If I do replace it I would really like to go with a true dual system... prestinb (Brandon)
  4. Thanks Silverado777! I appreciate the nice find. After further discussion with him it seemed like everything was going to work but I called Corsa to verify. They stated that as long as the muffler was from the #14289 exhaust system, it would work great. The muffler that he had was from an exhaust system from a 2008 5.3LSilverado. Corsa stated while the outside dimensions are the same, the internal baffles are different and they couldn't guarantee the outcome. I am going to continue to wait for another opportunity. Gasemall, I may have to do this if I can't find a Touring muffler...I don't want to have to try another exhaust system. prestinb (Brandon)
  5. Well...for my own amusement and test purposes...I removed my tail section and replaced it with a 3" turndown off the back of the Corsa Sport muffler. With this system...the turndown is right before the axle. End result...I put the tail section back on. In addition to the normal Corsa Sport sound...there was also a very low sonic pulse that created drone at idle. It wasn't too bad driving around but any drone is bad drone... prestinb (Brandon)
  6. Silverado777, Thanks for the options. I believe I like option number one the best. I do have the dynatech high-flow cats that I removed...just really don't want to put them back in. I want my cake and eat it too...haha! Also thanks for the clarification! prestinb (Brandon)
  7. red04supersport, I don't quite understand your post? prestinb (Brandon)
  8. xxssmaniacxx, That is the problem...all websites state that they are "In Stock" but they actually don't have any. When a person orders the item they turn around and order it from Corsa. Corsa has discontinued the exhaust system. Just got off the phone with Carid.com and they found the same to be true. I would love to find one some where but keep coming up short. prestinb (Brandon)
  9. I recently finished my build and now have exhaust woes. My engine is N/A and heavily modified with LTH, no cats and a Corsa Sport Cat-Back. I think the build quality and advertisement of no drone is spot on but it is ridiculous at startup (4am) and WOT. The truck runs great but its a bit too much....but don't want to impact performance. I would sell it and buy the Corsa Touring but they are no longer making it. I had the Magnaflow system on my truck initially (much quieter but more drone than Corsa)) but all the welds broke and was gassing me out of the cab. I don't want to go back to that system. I have listened to every youtube vid possible but none are really applicable due to my modifications. Others have suggested putting in an X-pipe but we have uneven intermediate pipes and for them to work as designed they just can't be thrown in the mix. The Corsa Sport is very directional (right side exit) and was wondering if I removed the tail and put a 3" turn down after the muffler, would it be better (omni-directional) or worse since its bouncing off the ground? I do not want to induce drone or cabin noise. Any insight? 10. Update: I know it has been some time but I forgot to post back that the carrier bearing relocation kit resolved all of my issues. prestinb (Brandon)
  11. I have zero affiliation with ARH and was simply speaking to Anthony about purchasing a set of 1 7/8 headers for my truck. During the conversation, I asked if they made and X-pipe or exhaust system for our trucks. He replied with, "Not yet." He said that if he could get a Silverado SS back in to make a exhaust system they would most likely offer it if it worked well. He said he would not be ready for about 2 months but if someone lived close, please call and speak with Anthony to set something up. This would give everyone an additional option for a great exhaust system. American Racing Headers Inc. 22 Elm Place Amityville, NY 11701 (631) 608-1986 prestinb (Brandon)
  12. Chevy56speed, This kits look really nice. You will have to keep us posted on fit, finish, and sound. After looking at the pics, I have one slight reservation. It would seem they only have applications for the 4.8 or 5.3. These have different fitment than our trucks. We have one collector and the other side is a slip fit after the cats / off-road pipes. I believe the 4.8 / 5.3 has a Y connector...this is most likely where they installed the X-pipe. I may be wrong but I am curious about fitment now... prestinb (Brandon)
  13. Is there an actual Silverado SS catback offered from Spintech or is it a piece together system? prestinb (Brandon)
  14. cmoney23, Sorry man...only a trade for a Corsa Touring muffler... prestinb (Brandon)
  15. I would like to trade my Corsa Sport muffler (14279) for a Corsa Touring muffler (14289). Current system has only has 1000 miles on it. After my engine build it will not be long before the local law enforcement knows me by a first name basis. prestinb (Brandon)
  16. I agree...I still have the 1 3/4 Dynatech headers, off-road mid pipes, and a Corsa Sport Cat-back. I would really like to get a set 1 7/8 ARH headers to see the difference they make... Also...my wheel/tire combo is super heavy so I am sure that is not helping much either... prestinb (Brandon)
  17. Results are updated in post #1!!!<br>
  18. Update: Custom length pushrods were just delivered approximately 20 minutes ago prestinb (Brandon)
  19. Rob Nap, We are soooo close now...the custom length pushrods were just delivered about 20 minutes ago so the results should be available very soon... Also I started a build thread that has a shorter summary of all the steps and HP/TQ gained from each. http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/topic/75837-prestinbs-official-build-thread/ prestinb (Brandon)
  20. What manufacturer of lifter did you have that failed? prestinb (Brandon)
  21. I thought I would establish an official build thread for my truck. This will be a late start as the build is essentially being wrapped up but hopefully it will provide helpful information. Throughout this project I have been working exclusively with Modern Muscle and Tony Mamo. Modern Muscle got me started with the custom cam / stall and has done all of the installation work. They have a clean, professional shop with great attention to detail. Additionally, Tony Mamo provided me with a level of support, knowledge, and personal service that is hard to find these days. He always seemed to be available when I needed to ask questions...no matter how insignificant. And now for the chronological steps: 2006 GMC VMAX 2WD 6.0 LQ9, 3/4 Drop, 4.56 Gears, 33" Tire, Zippy Shift Kit, Billet Servos, Dynatech LT Headers, No Cats, Magnaflow Cat-Back, K&N CAI Added the following: 3000 Stall, Custom Cam - 235/239 .621/.624 112 +3, Custom Tune Results: Added the following: Fast 102mm LSXRT Intake (Custom Porting by Tony Mamo) NW 102mm TB Fast LSXRT Fuel Rail Kit Bosch Flow Matched 42# @ 3 bar injectors X-Link 2.1 Custom CAI Corsa Sport Cat-Back Re-Tuned... 22. Update: Been working with Tony Mamo from Air Flow Research on the next appropriate steps concerning heads. He is going to get me set up with a set of custom ported AFR 230 heads with all the bells and whistles, yella terra, rockers, custom length pushrods, etc. He has been great to work with and extremely patient with my bombardment of novice questions. The heads will take a little while but I will post dyno results again once they are installed. prestinb (Brandon)
