Power steering gear located at the very bottom of the steering shaft is your problem. It makes the squealing noise when turned to the left and slightly when turned to the right. I had the dealership order me a new one and I am going to have it put on this Monday. There is a valve in there that sticks and causes that squealing noise that is REALLY ANNOYING!!

Well, looks like I will be getting a small amount of increase with my new P.O.S. I will try it and see how I come out. Maybe it will give me just enough boost to make me happy. (BUT I doubt it!) Thanks for all the help!
I agree that a custom tune is the best way to go........having owned a Hypertech, I can tell you that the Hypertech PPIII does work, but the gains are minimal as the tuning is mild and generic. Here are the settings I used to get the most out of my unit:93 Octane Tune
50% shift firmness increase
128mph top speed limiter
Rev limiter 6000rpm
Shift points-
1-2 6000rpm
2-3 5800rpm
3-4 5600rpm

So your saying that Hypertech is selling a programmer that does not work..... correct?
I wish you would have brought this topic up before you purchased this. You get way more for your money with a custom tune and its considerably cheaper in most cases. As for settings I dunno you may try a search on here and see if anyone posted some???welcome to the site

Hello everyone,
Just got me a new Power Programmer III from Hypertech for my 2005 Silverado SS AWD. My question is what are some recommendations for my new program. I have an aftermarket exhaust and intake so just was curious about my shift firmness and any other tweaks that would give me an exta 50hp or so. Thanks!!

Thanks for the info, but I am very calm just thought it was funny that no one replied on such a simple yet important question.
calm yourselfSince you are AWD, try a set of Hawk pads

Piss poor replys!
Hey everyone,Wanted some info on a good replacement brake pad to use on my SS. I will be using the stock rotors, but was really hoping to improve on the pad and stop slight quicker!
Thanks for any help!

are they charging to have this done?
i have to bring my truck in for cruise control repairs tomorrow, and also looking to buy a new duramax.. but, i'll get this done as well if they aren't charging for the parts and installation.
$106.59 was the total cost for mine to be replaced. However, mine was under warranty so all I had to do was sign and drive!

Hey all,
Just wanted to give a heads up for those who do not know that the replacement steering shaft for all of our CLUNKS has been issued. It came out in Feb. of this year and I have personally had it installed with great results!!! NO CLUNK! Yes, I know some already know this, but this is for those who do not.
Hope this helps....

I here trucks like that all day long, they think it gives them more power but they actually lose it and it does sound like I want to disable all the one I hear like that. Oh yea I know all them town cops (I work on their police and personal cars) and tell them they need to give em a ticket And there is always one that goes by my shop when one of them is here talking to me. Now I like a good sounding exhaust that is a little louder than stock but open pipes are for
I agree!!!

I had a great time at the track last night and pulled off a 14.7 @ 94.62 mph at 2300 ft. above sea level. I think if I was at sea level, then it would have been a 13.8. Here's a pic of my burnout at the Las Vegas strip.
Nice!!!
