can you use the stock pipes on this?
yes you can use the stock pipes up to the muffler and after the muffler you have to run new pipes for the dual set up and be able to use the tips.

I have a used magnaflow muffler (1) and 2 stainless steel magnaflow tips $130. The muffler is a double 2.5 inlet and double 2.5 outlet. If interested send me an email @ [email protected] and i will send you more pics. I accept paypal.
These MagnaFlow performance mufflers are designed to give you more power and provide excellent sound. They feature a large-diameter, perforated stainless steel core and a straight-through design with the x-pipe built in. They also have a stainless steel mesh for sound control, and all-welded, lap-jointed contacts to avoid distortion or cracking at the seams

I just searched for this and when I saw shimmy at 55mph I said, EXACTLY. My truck is doing this too. Thought it was the old tires, which were bad, so I put on brand new rims and tires and it still does it! I'm thinking the idler is probably shot, but it's interesting it does it at certain speeds. Mine does it right at 55-60 too, and because of that I thought it was an out of balance tire for sure. But they're brand new and just balanced! it smoothes out at 70. So I'm going to look into some parts, but man it's annoying.
Actually, if anyone reads this and knows, what is your preferred method for testing steering parts, especially an idler arm. My method is to take a pry bar and rest it on a jack stand as a pivot and then press upward on the ball joints, or linkage parts. If the play is more than 1/16th" then I can tell that it's worn. Anyone else?

How long have u own it?

Those two codes where also available on other vehicles... therefore increasing the count. I.E. p30 on the suburban ltz
I dont recall ever seeing No Suburban with factory SS 20" wheels been sold.
-
The only production numbers released were for 2003, all other years are unknown. The 40,272 may possibly be the total number of SSSs made, period.
Run your Vin and check those codes to see what the Numbers say for your 2006 SSS?
-
I just ran my 2003 SSS VIN# on the CompNine website to see how rare was my truck and i was looking a the CODE for the 20x8.5 (P30) wheels & tires that came with it and it show ed that their was 40,272 trucks made with that wheel option. the other option was (B4U) the sports performance package also shows only 40,272 trucks were made with it. Does that min thats how many 2003 SSS where made? No other truck had that option but the SSS. On this website I read that GM only made about 12000 SSS a year. So who do I belive? Can some one start a sticky with How may SSS where built per GM by the model yr?

i would go with a FLT- level 5 , L65 , went through 8 transmissions in 2 years from so-so tranny builders , had my level 5 in for one year and have ran over 25 runs in the 11's this year and today i ran my personal best 11.55
and the transmission is flawless (the best damn transmission i've ever had!)
What is FLT level 5?

How many miles do you have on it?
I have 80,300 miles on it.

Does anyone know what the clicking nose might be when i turn the wheel? My steering wheel also shakes when i'm driving my SSS. I got my tires alighn and it still shakes. Can some one give my some advice?

Well.. after of weeks and weeks of looking online for ideas, checking out youtube clips, and reading forums i got mine done. Took it to a muffler shop that was willing to make custom pipes. Told them I want a dual in dual out setup dumping the exhaust in front of the pass side rear tire. Got there at 1:00 and they sould i would be done at 3.. at 5:00 i finally got out. they talked me into these large glass packs.. NO NO NO.. never get these.. sounded like A$$.. so this morning I took it back and had a lil one to one with the mamager, they then installed a dual in dual out flowmaster. MUCH BETTER!! 40 series sounds good. here are pics. I will get sound clips when i can..
I like your exhast tips

DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHAT A STOCK 2008 SILVERADO SINGLE CAB 1/4 TIME MIGHT BE? I HAVE A FRIEND THAT THINKS HIS 08 SILVERADO CAN SMOKE MY SSS I'M RUNNING A 14.7 WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK?
-
Try launching off an idle, many of us have had better luck that way. Not to mention, these trucks are heavy, really can't compare the launch of a 5500 pound truck to a 3000 pound Camaro. What are your mods?
My mods are wheatly tune custom 4" CAI, Efans, ported throttle, Throttle body bypass, NGK plugs,Long tube headers with true dual 2.5 exhaust. Random Tech high flow cats, magnaflow x-pipe and muffler my best 1/4 time was 14.7 and i think it can do better.
-
How are you launching currently?
I hold on the brake and stall it to about 3000rpms and my SSS launches good and grabs good it just dont seem like my launch is good like like my Z-28
-
Can you all help me out on how to get a good launch of the line? I have an AWD and i just can get it to launch right.

First pass, 11 ft lbs starting from the center bolts out. Next step, put the headers through a heat cycle, then go back and tighten them to 18ft lbs on the second pass, starting with the center bolts again......
