  1. cant speak for anyone else but black is good for me... and i guess the SS depends on how small is small

:withstupid: I'm in for T's, hoodies, and a skull cap (it's getting cold out here in Southern Cal... it was in the low 60's last night! :shakehead: )....

Seriously, though, Let us know when they're/you're ready....

  2. all the tests you see, all the hype you read, its all done using the 15,000 mile extended performance "gold cap" mobile 1. all the other mobile 1 oil is not the "good stuff". i don't know all the technical stuff behind it, do a search on the net, you'll find more info than you ever wanted to find on this subject. bottom line, if your not using the gold cap mobile one, you might as well just be using any other company's off the shelf synthetic oil. I myself no longer use mobile 1, i switched to royal purple. I still use either mobile 1 or k&n filters.

Interesting... but oil debates are like color debates--almost everyone gets nowhere, fast... Mobile One, even in the "regular" gray cap is better than any non-synth oil out there, and more than exemplary if we change our oil with any kind of regularity. I never let my oil get older than 3000 miles, but I commute with my truck. Even so, I would never feel comfortable taking any oil past 5000 miles. But that's just me. At that frequent an oil change interval, even conventional oils would be more than sufficient...

As a side note, the last time I changed my oil, I went with Shell Rotella (Full sytnth, 5w40)... It's cheap at Walmart in the gallon bottle, and I've heard nothing but good things about Rotella. I run Mobile One in every other vehicle I own.

    Just my .02...

  3. yep, yep, yep.

6000K is very bright (at least twice the light output as your factory halogens) and still has the blue/purplish escalade coloring to it. great kit someone has to want this :tumbleweed::chevy:

Do these work with no issues on an SSS? No ballast/current issues? TIA!

  4. well the red gaylord came in.... and of course it didnt have the carpet or the x-2000 hinge system :banghead: but they are throwing that in for free now.

i do however have some REALLY REALLY REALLY unfortunate (for me) and near impossible news: the truck was pulled in a bay being wet sanded, one hour from me finishing it..... and an outside paint vendor ran STRAIGHT into the left back corner, breaking the rollpan and cladding (yes the SAME part that i just fixed). what are the odds???? :wtf:

Hey, go have some old Cajun (or Mexican....) lady kill a chicken, suck on a pipe, and blow the smoke all over your truck... gotta' get rid of that bad ju ju... :shakehead::yellow_loser:

Seriously, though, that blows! I've been reading your saga and this last bit of news is just nuts!!

That is one of the deepest, cleanest blacks I've ever seen, btw!!

  5. I'm selling the A.R.E. tonneau cover off of my SS--it is the model with the slight "bulge" in it for a more muscular appearance and was made specifically for the SS, though it will fit any Standard bed Silverado/Sierra. Please PM me or e-mail me at [email protected]

I'm asking $600 for it. it is in great shape, with only a couple of pine tar spots that can be easily removed. It is, of course, black, and it locks.... ;o) These retail for over $1100 or so. I am located in the Los Angeles/Pasadena area of Southern California, but wouldn't mind meeting somewhere within 100 miles... we could probably swap it over in under an hour...

:rollin: Just a quick bump... Still for sale...

  6. thats my old SSS. i bought it at courtesy chevrolet in san diego when i was in the Marine Corps and drove it all the way back to illinois where i traded it in. interesting that it made it all the way back to the west coast! pm me if you have any questions about the mods.

    todd

Todd, Great to hear from you!!! It is awesome knowing the the og owner is also on this list! I really love the truck! I bought it mostly for transporting the bikes around (that's the only reason the tonneau is coming off), but just fell in love with it's performance, etc. I replied to your PM with a couple of questions too.

It's funny that it made its way out to SoCal, but I plan to take care of it as much as you have. After I sort out a few things, I'm thinking FI is next...

  7. I'd say run your truck the way you want... If I pulled alongside your truck, you'd get a thuimbs-up from me. You'd get two thumbs-up if you smoked me off the line...

I don't mind the SS cladding. If Chevy can use it on the "barf" cobalt or Impala, then it's cool on a V-8 powered truck. It's your truck. Run it the way you want. This isn't a concourse site... Just my .02

I'm asking $600 $450 for it. it is in great shape, with only a couple of pine tar spots that can be easily removed.
