  1. So someone stole ur STOCK gm tailgate cap? If so I would recommend the SS upgrade, they look great. that is, unless U R actually working out of ur truck, because they do get scratched up very easlily..

Anyone know a good source for the SS caps? My SS has a tonneau that I am getting rid of, but in order to make it work, the PO used a simple cap--I don't know what happened to the SS cap... TIA!!

  2. sorry to come in and bash... but carlos mencia's real name is Ned Arnel Mencia, is not even mexican... and he is a POS who steals everyones material and has been accused on national tv as a fraud...

he is hated in the industry and you wont see any new mencia shows on HBO ever again...

He's half-Mexican, and was accused of using the same comedic line as another comedian did years ago. As someone else here said, "so what?" All comedians (musicians, actors, etc.) "copy" from other greats in their arena, and to waht extent he did it is arguable. Rogan is a UFC wannabe...

I don't anyone of them personally, so there is no personal interest one way or another. Carlos (how many other entertainers take stage names?!?! ) makes me laugh... so does Lopez, and Murphy, and Penn & Teller, and Seinfeld, and... well, you guys get the picture...

  3. I'm mostly looking into car, because although the SS is a truck it hurts me every time I put something in the bed and it gets scratched! Also the gas is still pretty bad, and if I start adding mods it will make the gas worse lol. Don't get me wrong I love it to bits and its gonna hurt seeing her go, but I just need something different right now, she just sits in the garage. Actually I haven't even driven her in a month. I just drive my 4 banger around. Still thinking about it! or maybe I should hold out for the new camaros! That would be nice!

This SS is my first truck. Owning many motorcycles, and a BMW aficionado, I don't know how I ever got by without a truck. WTF was I thinking?!?! Want to join some friends in Yucaip for a blast up to Idyllwild? Load the Aprilia on the back of the truck, strap her down, and enjoy AC and music the 77 miles there...

In the past, i would ride my bike there, get there a bit tired, ride for 200 miles (up to Idy, down to Palm desert a few times, over to Hemet, then back up over to Julian and back...), then have to ride home just absolutely drained...

Spot a nice Bow Flex machine at a giveaway price at a yard sale? No worries!! Give the guy a couple bills, and load her up!

My kids love the way it rumbles, my beighbors give me thumbs up, heck, even the local PD gives me thumbs up. This thing is cool, practical, and comfy--if a bit big...

A man's gotta have at least one truck... :driving:

  4. On a recent trip to Phoenix, I averaged 16 MPG at about 80 MPH (some stretches I set the cruise at 85, on others, at 75, depending on the environment, enforcement likelihood, etc.). Around town, if I'm a bit agressive on the throttle, I see as low as 11.5, but under "normal" circumstances, I see around 13. I commute from Alhambra to downtown Los Angeles through some fairly stiff traffic.

  5. i honestly want to just start all over, i remember saying to myself its either i get it back intact or i dont get back at all because i honestly didnt think i would get it back in 1 whole piece!

Eddie, depending on how pissed you are and how much you want to get back at these fooks, you can put a little effort into f*cking them over. If you have the time, visit some of those wrecking yards, looking for "nice Chevy truck parts." You might be surprised at what you find hanging on some of the walls there... Or maybe try calling a few in the area, asking for certain parts. What sucks is that most of your parts probably went straight onto another truck, but I am sure that they took more than they needed, and some of these shops may just have a few hanging around. It sure would be nice to pop some of these fooks...

  6. haha.

i'm thinking the same thing.. i usually don't have a hard time staying awake when i'm doing something constructive. it just adds to it that i'll be working with this particular guy.

...Best thing you can do is just suck it up and do it. Never mind what that other joker is doing. You'll get your job done and the hard work will be rewarded at some point.

I work a 9-5 M through F. 7 hour work day. However, I was asked by a friend to help him at his night club ( a large, well-known L.A. Club), so now I'm managing their security force, which means I have to be there every Friday and Saturday night (from 8 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.), and for any special events (concerts, etc.). It took three or four weekends for me to get accustomed to the hours, and I make sure I stretch Saturday and Sunday sleep until just before noon. That seemed to help a lot.

When i used to do that sort of stuff for a living, working 18 hour shifts was a joke. Now, in my mid-30's, it is more difficult--but not insurmountable. I'd venture to say that your dread is worse than the actual hours you will work... Hang in there!

  7. This is so important I'm going to say it again -

On these trucks, if you are going to drive them any harder than say a Geo Metro then you've GOT to get rid of the Goodyears for a better set of tires and you've GOT to get at least a set of Baer Alumasport front brakes. I cannot stress this enough from personal experience, this is the FIRST mod I would encourage everyone to do. These factory brakes/tires will get you in trouble eventually, I am sure that more than a few others will agree with me on this from their experiences too.

    Mr. P.

Mr. P. with respect to the Alumasports, do you mean the calipers also? Or do you think that the 2-piece Eradispeed rotors (14") up front would be sufficient? Also, I have an '04 AWD SS--are the '06 calipers better? Do they bolt right up? Can I buy the Erdaispeed rotors, then source some calipers used (much cheaper) and go with stainless lines? Anyone have a similar "retrofit" idea? Thanks!!
  8. another critic huh?.. j/k. i do get what your saying, i kind of felt it needed a new look for the bumper... and being that i'm going for a really unique look, the SSS bumper is out of the picture for me.. i was planning on using this one of course it will be white instead of orange (pic below)..

Hey, that orange one looks like my hood! ;o)

Personally, I think the SS bumper looks cleaner--though I have seen one on here (can't remember exactly who now), that had a full HID conversion and used HID fogs in place of the sliver scoops...

  9. I ordered a replacement aftermarket SS chrome center cap with a black center and they sent me two of them when I had only paid for one. I called the company and told them, but they wanted me to pay for shipping to return the item. So instead of letting it go to waste I will give it to whoever needs it. It can be picked up in or around Charleston, WV or I can ship it for the price of what it costs to ship it to you.
I'll take it if you have it! I lost one of my front caps recetly. Let me know how much shipping is (I'll PM you with an address).
  10. yep they are only for a good sound

So that's what those friggin' things are called!! LOL!! Mine has the manual version with the block-off plates and wing nuts... I haven't even bothered to see what they sound like so I may just have them "deleted" altogether, although the electric version looks tres-cool!

  11. dang brakes cost too much. This modding sh!t has really added up for me. I thought about going with the slotted rotors and new pads since $800 is a lot of $$$$$. Someday I'll get up the nerve to drop the cash but not today :driving:

uh, you're driving a 40k dollar truck... :yellow_loser: I agree that brakes are probably the singular most important upgrade on a vehicle like this. I'm fortunate that I bought a used truck with some thoughtful mods (could have done worse), but I would have done brakes first, no matter what. I'm trying to carefully consider my options before I buy, but, for example, Wilwoods are not out of the question--brakes are that important to me. :driving: Still, it looks like the Eradispeeds will accomplish what I want (all stop, no unnecessary bling) and at the right price. Thanks guys!!!

  12. Okay, 'nother Q-- I'm pretty sure I have LT headers (they're farily long, windy like snakes, and head off towards the tranny--BUT, there are a pair of cat's just off the tubes, and the tubes have an 02 sensor in them. I looked for all I was worth for a brand name on them, but couldn't find it. Oh, and they also appear to be ceramic coarted (they are that satiny-silver finish with absolutely no corrosion). I'll tell you, though it's nice to have bought the truck with some upgrades, it sure would be nice ot know what they were! :P

Anyone have pics of their headers?

  13. get the BAER ERADISPEED 14" rotor kit, its a light weight two piece rotor with aluminum hat for less rotating mass. its like $800

Is it $800 for the front (pair of rotors?)? Are spacers for the calipers included? Any recommendations on pads? I just think it's stupid ot have tiney fronts and massive rear brake rotors--and how are they brake balanced at the factory to compensate for this? Just doesn't make any sense... TIA!!

Yup. I posted about this in another section. Not only do my brakes look obviously too small for the application, but they also offer piss-poor performance when I need them most. I almost ass-ended an SUV who decided to jump in my lane and make an illegal left... I jumped on the brakes, then smashed as hard as I could. BARELY made it... I didn't get the nose dive, or confidence, I was looking for. Hence my quest for brakes.

I was thinking about the powerslot big-brake kit, but I don't know if that would be sufficient. Why don't those that have "gone there" post with their experiences?

    TIA!!

  15. I just hit 37000 miles and am metal-on-metal on the rear. I figure if I am going to put new brakes on, I might as well upgrade a bit. I found that through one of my vendors, I can buy kits from powerslot that will allow you to put 14" brakes on your truck all the way around using the stock calipers. I can get the front an rear brake kits for around $400 for each axle. To make the cross over, all you need is to provide your own pads. I guess the kit comes with the 14" rotors, a location bracket, and the hardware. You put the new 14" rotors on, and then mount your existing calipers (loaded up with whatever new pads you choose to put in them) using the relocating bracket with the enclosed hardware. I may own my own auto parts store, but it doesn't mean that I have $1500 an axle to throw on my truck to make it stop a little better. I figure that for $1000, I can have 14" slotted rotors all the way around with the factory caliper (not the best, but certainly could be much worse) loaded up with some Hawk pads. I am going to order them on Monday and will hopefully have them on the truck by Friday. If this turns out to be a decent decision, I'll tell you guys how to get them to upgrade your own brakes for a reasonable price. Email me if you have any suggestions or questions.

    RAD TOYS

Hi--I am very interested in this kit and really would like to know the outcome of the install. I couldn't believe how small the front rotors were on this truck--they seem smaller than the rears (optical illusion?), and are barely adequate for the job (I am accustomed to monster Brembos on my BMW). I was looking at some of the 4 and 6 piston kits, but they are terribly expensive (even more so than for performance cars--wtf?!?!), although I have seen some nice Silverado's and Escalades with these big brake kits and they look great.

In any event, if you would please report back, I would really appreciate it. Also, any good pad recommendations with this kit? EBC? Hawks? TIA!!!

  16. So, does all this mean that I should get long tubes?:banghead::yellow_loser: LOL!! J/k!!! I checked mine, and.... tada! Long Tubes!!! Yeah!!!! They also have some fancy block-off plates that allow the exhaust to, ahem, be routed out BEFORE the mufflers (but after what looks to be resonators...)--it gets very loud at that point, though... In any event, there is no way this thing would pass our local smog inspections... Thank goodness for us "outlaws" that there are still some very creative people out there... I think I'll have a set of cats picked out for the next smog inspection (in two years). I figure the fun factor heavily outweighs the cost of having the cats welded-in every couple of years... :driving:
