  1. I've been hecka busy so it's taken me a few days to get this done. Enjoy!
  2. Oy!! Long day. Here is the carbon fiber intake cover. It's not done but damn close. I need to wet sand the surface and polish it out. It looks damn sick though. Tomorrow I'll snap some pics when it's all done. With daylight!!
  3. Thank you! I finally got the gasket on today so it's completely sealed up from the top. Do I get a cookie? I'm going to get started on a carbon fiber cover within the next few days. As soon as my work load clears up a bit.
  4. Looks like poo. Foose and Coddington would not approve.
  5. Holy crap... 25k under the hood? Yeah... Nobody will care about seeing the filter. What filter? I don't want to get spanked for soliciting but I'll make a carbon fiber cover for about $65. If I were making one for myself I would start with a 1/8 black acrylic and lay the CF over it. Then clear and polish the top coat. That way you'd have a solid base. If I just do all CF it would be flimsy like the original cover. I'll give it a run this week and post some pics. It should look pretty sick.
  6. I hear you on that gasket. I had about 15 inches of butyl gasket material which wasn't enough to go all the way around. I'll have to get more tomorrow. I can make carbon fiber covers also but then you still can't see the filter.
  7. A clear hood you say? Hmm... Thank you for the compliments. I also don't like that you can't see that big ass filter on the Volant. And why the hell do they not pre-oil these filters. I've installed several Volant intake systems on different cars. They all had pre-oiled filters. Or at least send a small can of oil with the kit. Anywho, I can make these clear covers pretty easily. Contact me if you're interested.
  8. I'm sure that somebody else has probably done this before but I haven't seen it. I own a custom install biz and I figured that I'd give this a shot. Turned out pretty sweet. What do you think?
  9. Here's the webpage... http://www.gigharborcruisers.org/ I own Gig Harbor Auto Works and usually show/sponsor 3 or 4 cars. This year I've been damn busy and haven't had time to prepare any show worthy cars. I'll probably show the SS and a black T/A that I've been working on. I would be cool if you could make it. It's always an awesome time.
  10. I would love to come but I have a car show on the 26th. So sad.
  11. There are quite a few SS's around these parts. It would be cool to have a meet. Count me out for organizing the thing though. We should hit up some car shows. Those old timers love the SS. I'm showing mine for the first time at the "Cruise the Narrows" show in Gig Harbor on July 26th.
  12. Wow, that sounds damn nice! I like the intake/exhaust blend on the throttle blips.
  13. Last Friday I didn't have shit to do so I headed to the track to watch my buddy and his SCCA friends melt some tires and grind up some brake pads. It was a great show. His car is the black STI. That thing has 660 whp! But then again, most of the cars racing had more horsepower than my truck. The American cars felt out of place but we stuck together. My truck made friends with a tastey CUDA. Enjoy the pics! The blue Nissan 240 and the yellow Z06 tore everyone up. Except for the Speedvision Dodge Neon.
  14. I traded a damn nice Acura TL Type-S in on my Silverado SS. That TL would put a hurting on my truck but it was a "big kid" Acura. Not a ricer. I get messed with all day by these dip shits around town. I can't recall a time when any of them have come close to keeping up. OH... and I have found the BROWN NOTE for ricer drivers. For those of you that have a Volant intake bury the throttle for a second and watch that bastard shit his drawers.
  15. I'm down for a meet. The XXX Root Beer parking lot is a good place for that. However, there are many other forums that have meets there as well. Mostly Honda folk.
  16. Holy crap dude..... I have a neighbor with a black late 80's Chev 1500 with SS badges all over it. It has dual fart cans with DTM tips coming out the back. I'll try to snap some pics. He also has a black 2003 Monte Carlo with SS badges all over it. I don't know which one makes me gag more.
  17. Wow bro. Great pics!! Pics like that only happen in the Northwest!!
  18. Even though the show won't last very long.... I agree. Knight Rider can't be a Ford. That's like rewriting Airwolf with a 747 instead of a bad-ass helicopter. It's like making the Terminator a chick.... oh wait... WTF is the world coming to?
  19. Holy crap dude. I'm not sure what's worse.... your house can be rebuilt but your truck is done. I know that your insurance company will take care of you but please let us know if there is anything that we can do to help. Have a few beers.... it will take the sting off for a bit.
  20. I really am not worried about the snow. These street tires and AWD seem to work very well on their own. Definitely an intake first. It has an exhaust system but I don't know what the hell it is. I has the factory style tip but it's one piece with the pipe. A bit more quiet than stock also. As I surf the forum I see loads of good parts. What's the best intake? No chrome or polished pipes.
  21. Excellent. As soon as the snow clears up I'll get some pics. I drove my daughter to the bus stop this morning and "accidentally" got a little sideways. The neighbors are gonna love me now!! How do you like your truck? Any advice or wisdom to share?
  22. Howdy! I'll be your new guy today. Two days ago I traded in my 2002 Acura TL Type-S for a Black 2005 Silverado SS AWD. I've needed a truck for a while and have been looking at the SS for several years. Finding a black one in great condition with AWD is hard. Anywho.... I'm happy to be here. I'll be skimming through threads looking for mods. Remote Start is first. Then intake and navigation. It's already got an exhaust on it but I have no idea what it is.
